26 Weeks

August 7, 2012

Nori is a photo whore…she was feeling a little left out.

For those of you that are super observant…yes we did re-stain our deck!! It really needed it…so that was one of our pre-baby summer goals…and I’m happy to say it is almost completely done. I didn’t put in nearly as much time as Lance (for obvious reasons)…but it still only took a few weekend days to complete!

And now onto the baby goods…

26 Weeks!

Baby Fruit Size: Head of lettuce (Average size: 13.6-14.8 inches, weighs 1.5-2.2 lb.)

According to one of my weekly update apps…the Babe now has recognizable hair color and texture…so if this child is gonna be a “Ginger Baby” (as my little sister seems to think) like me then it’s happening! Only time will tell for sure!

Best Moment: As gushy/girly as it sounds I’m really loving the baby’s fits of kicking/punching/Gabby Douglas-esq moves. It’s like I get to steal these secret moments with my baby randomly during work and again at night after dinner. I love to just sit there and watch my belly move all over the place…so hard to explain but such a cool experience. He/She is definitely getting into an active/sleep pattern and I feel as though I’m getting to know this little one even before we officially meet. I’m also surprised at how strong some of the kicks are…like make me stop and gasp strong. Which I take is a good sign the baby is growing and getting stronger…Lance just assumes it’s a boy preparing for his future football career.

Cravings: Ice Cream is still going strong in this category. Lance also pointed out that I’m craving/eating a lot of carbs lately…toast, cereal, muffins, bread…I can’t seem to get enough!

What I Miss: Sleep. I know this only gets worse but I can’t help it…I miss real, full-night sleep. Not having to worry about laying on my side (preferably left) and the hip pain that hits around 3am that keeps me from falling back asleep…oh and of course the 4am wake-up kicks from the babe (which I love…but c’mon…it’s 4am!). I think the time has come for me to invest in a body pillow…to at least help with the hip pain.

What I Can’t Wait For: I’ve been chatting with my mom, sister and aunt about my upcoming shower and I’m getting really excited to see everyone back home!! I have some friends that I haven’t seen or talked to much since getting pregnant so I can’t wait to catch up with them! Add in the fact that we’re going to the first Husker game that Saturday…and possibly a new baby to visit…and I’m insanely stoked for our annual trip back to Nebraska over Labor Day weekend!

;

OH and the other big accomplishment in the baby department this past week….I finished knitting the chevron blanket!!!

I LOVE how it turned out. It was a lot easier/quicker than I thought it would be and I’m actually a little sad that it’s finished already. The yarn is super soft cotton and it’s nice and thick too…perfect for those first few months after the baby arrives!

18 Weeks

June 12, 2012

18 Weeks!

Baby Fruit Size: Sweet Potato (weighs about 7 ounces.  Length: 5 1/2 inches, head to bottom.)

Best Moment:  Feeling movement!  Pretty sure I’ve started feeling the babe kick/punch/move…whatever it is he/she is doing.  At first I wasn’t sure…but now I think I have a pretty good idea of when it’s happening.  Crazy!

Symptoms:  Once again nothing really big here…just the normal stuff…stuffy nose, need to pee, hunger (although this has toned down a bit…thank god…I was starting to feel like a real heffer)

Cravings:  Ice Cream/gelato/anythingfrozenanddelicious.  Seriously…it’s getting a bit ridiculous.

What I Miss:  Beer…especially now that it’s summer…and we have Widmer Hef on tap in the bar.  I think Lance picked it just to torture me…evil I tell you.

What I Can’t Wait For:  Feeling movement more frequently…and scheduling our “big” ultrasound.

I also started my first knitting project for baby this week….a blanket!  Thanks to size 11 needles it’s actually coming together faster than I thought.   I’m sure It will still take me till November to finish it…once I get busy with other things it will be hard to find time to just sit and knit.  I’m making this chevron blanket I found via pinterest (obviously) and using these colors.

So far I’ve got one of the “stripes” done…just 6 more to go!

Friday Hodgepodge

September 10, 2010

Well….you’d think we took a trip back in time with that post title huh?!

For you newbies…once upon a time I actually wrote posts more often than once a month…and on Fridays I called them “Friday Hodgepodge

1) I still Love the Vikes even though they lost to the Saints…it was only the first game.  Although I’m a little concerned to hear my Fantasy superstar Percy has been diagnosed with sleep apnea…’Harvin A Good Time’* needs you Percy!!!!

2) I’m feeling a mad need to make chili and spend an entire weekend on the couch knitting and watching football.  This is good because my needles are in need of a work-out…and my feet are in need of another pair of these

I also stumbled my way onto Knit Pics early today for the first time in months…only to discover new colorways (well new to me neways) of  their Shamrock yarn which I love to use for these fabulous slippers.  Quinn is my fave

Alas I already have 5 skeins in another colorway so I will force myself to use those up first.  Woo-hoo for stash-usage!

3) Turns out Lance & I have some cute friends…and Salt Lake City has some sweet new-ish photographersCheck em out…looks like they are offering killer deals for their amazing skills.

Side Note:  The cute chick pictured above was my other amazing personal attendant…she did things like use her steller handwriting to address ALL our invites?!  …oh and basically showed me the world of make-up beyond mascara and powder…among many other things.

Alright ya’ll…have a good weekend!  Do yourself a favor and watch some football!!

* ‘Harvin a Good Time’ is my fantasy football team’s name..recycled from last year…when I was Champion.  booyah!

shoes & a knitted garter

August 12, 2010

If you recall…these were the shoes I decided to wear on my wedding day…

{so pretty-ly photographed by Khara}

I loved them!  …and I was determined to keep these suckers on till after our first dance…which I successfully did!  I don’t actually remember them hurting my feet much…but I must have been blissed-out and numb to pain because I had zero feeling in the majority of my toes for three days after the wedding.

Didn’t they look great with my freshly pedicured purple toes??  Talk about going the non-traditional route!

I love this pic Khara secretly snapped of them when I was heading upstairs at some point during the reception…most likely headed to the shoot shack!

And of course…they looked fabulous paired with my beautiful purple garter

Hand knit by my dear friend C…

She has mad knitting skills…seriously…isn’t it just amazing!?!?  Oh and the yarn* is a knitter’s dream…100% lamb’s wool yumminess!

It was definately one of my favorite details from the entire day.

If you’re thinking of knitting up your own garter…check out C’s pattern on Ravelry!

*yarn is Jade Sapphire – Lacey Lamb

knitted hearts

February 22, 2010

It is so fun to see knitted stuff incorporated in weddings…so when I saw these cute knitted hearts used in this super fun inspiration shoot…I just had to share!

pics via SMP

Cute no?  Looks like they used them as ‘place cards’.

Turns out….I’ve actually knitted one of these before…way back when before I was even engaged.

pic by ME!

They are actually pretty easy to make and knit up quick!  They could be a fun detail to throw on your reception tables, guestbook table, or other random places!  (As if I need another project!)

You can find the pattern to make your very own here…or on Ravelry here!

Garter-knit style!

November 3, 2009

My friend Christy just posted her wedding garter pattern on Ravelry!!

christy_garter

I’ll be sporting one on my wedding day…thanks to the talented knitter herself…we’re thinking purple ribbon or purple lace….hmmmmm….I haven’t decided yet!

So if you would like to knit a garter of your very own…or have someone knit it FOR you…head over to Yarn & Snow and get the pattern!!  OR if you’re on Ravelrygo here!

Gah…I wish I could just write super amazing patterns…yeah right I struggle enough just reading them…

Non-Wedding post…

September 16, 2009

My aunt requested something NON-wedding related on here…so here we go…

Um I promised pics from the baby knits I was working on…so here they are!  Finally!

IMG_1459

One of the petal bibs I knit…I also made one in a lavender color…but didn’t snap a photo of it!  These knit up rather quickly once I got a hang of short-rows…I’m glad I did though because now I think I can actually work on the ballet flats I’ve been meaning to make for oh like a year now…

And now for the cutest little tiny baby booties…

IMG_1493

please forgive the poor lighting…I literally snapped this photo mins before we had to leave for the wedding so I could gift it!  I knit the second one almost completely on our flight from SLC to NoDak!

and here they are in action!

IMG_1614

So there ya have it…some knitting FOs!  OH and this time of year is by far my favorite time for knitting…with football and the cool weather I find myself sitting on the couch a lot more…so hopefully that translates into even MORE FOs!!  On the needles right now are a pair of House Slippers for Lance…which I promised to him over 2 years ago!

OH and my friend C…that first introduced me to knitting now has a blog!

Picture 1

She is much more talented than I and is gonna start posting patterns on Ravelry…in fact she just submitted one last night and the link is on her blog…it’s a pretty sweet dude-hat!  Check it out here!

It’s a Girl!

July 13, 2009

no don’t worry…I didn’t have a baby this weekend…but one of Lance’s friends did…and it’s a girl!!  Which means…time to do some knitting!!

OK so the plan is to knit a couple things to take and give the happy new parents when we are back in NoDak for a wedding in August…what I get done just depends on how much knitting time I can squeeze in and how frustrated I get with working on size 2 needles…I mean that’s practically a tooth pic!?!

Baby projects in the Rav queue:

Saartje’s Bootees:

Ravelry pattern can be found here.

I’m going to use the seamless version of this pattern found on Fleegle’s Blog.  I have some sock yarn that I’m thinking of using…finding ways to use up the stash is always a good thing.  Hopefully I don’t get too frustrated with these and they come out super cute like I know then can.

Petal Bib by Leigh Radford:

found in the book One Skein

I’m still debating on what color to knit this in…I still have to stop by the LYS and get the yarn so I guess I’ll decide then!

I’ll be posting FO pics once I get these done so stick around!

A 5k and an FO

May 11, 2009

I tend to promise pictures…and then never post them.  WELL…I have some for ya!  Yippy!

I’ll start with a pic of L and I after running the SLC 5k…we actually ran with each other this time!  Lance would normally go his own pace in races (meaning ahead of me)…but this time he decided to slow down and run with me…nice huh.  Well it ended up being a quick and fun race…the last mile or so was all downhill…hells yeah!  If it wasn’t for the 3,000 people running it we pry could have pulled off better times…instead we weaved in and out of other runners/walkers/and bikers for 3.1 miles.

DSCN1464

…and now we have an FO (finished object for you non-knitters)!!  Finally something knitting related on here!  I have made a couple of these cozies before…they knit up quick and no seaming!!  gotta love that.  I made this one for my friend A who’s 28th Bday was this past weekend…she said one of her favorite colors is pink…so I made it pink!

IMG_0838

(I’m a little embarassed by the Coors Light…all the good beer was already packed in the cooler for the BBQ)

IMG_0843

Pretty nice huh?  I used the pattern from Michael del Vecchio’s book “Knitting With Balls“…you can find the pattern info here on Ravelry ….BTW if you knit and you haven’t heard of Ravelry yet…um where have you been??  Its awesome…get on there!

Well thats about it…but I’ll include one more photo…because I think it turned out really good and it includes 2 GM in our wedding!!

IMG_0845

Thats L on the left, friend J in the middle, and friend B on the right…all three of these guys grew up in the same small town in North Dakota…and now we all live within 3 blocks of each other…in SLC…not kidding.
