So it seems the few of you who commented on the last post want to hear a little something about my mad sewing skills.  I’m not gonna lie…I’m pretty much a natural.  Ok so maybe I’ve only actually sewn like 2 things…with straight lines…but I’m already seeing the potential.

Actually…I’m a little impressed with how quickly I can finish a sewing project.  Which is very much the opposite of knitting.  When I knit I think…hmmmm…maybe I’ll make a scarf…and then I’ll proceed to work on said scarf for about 12+ months…with lots of “in-between” projects so I don’t get bored.  So really I’m still trying to come to terms with this holy-crap-I-made-something-in-3omins!!!! concept.

My first offical poject was a camera strap.  Special shout-out to Alex for the idea and super easy follow along steps.

I spose a picture of that strap would come in handy here…but you’ll just have to imagine one till I actually get around to taking one…add it to the list my friends!!!!!!

The good news is…I have a picture..sorta…of my second sewing project!  It just so happens to be a super-cool bachelorette sash!!!

See that seam up there on my bff shelley’s shoulder??  Yep…pure sewing excellence…thankyouverymuch.

Shelley also happens to be an avid sewer herself…we’re talking quilts and usable things like tote bags!  I think she was impressed with my beginner skills. (FYI …I cut out all those stupid pink letters…ok so maybe I had some help…but it still sucked)

So why is this sash green you may be wondering?!  Well we just so happened to be having her bachelorette weekend in Chicago during their St Patrick’s Day festivities…green river dying and all!

And because we’re super cool…we like to use things like this as an excuse to eat lots and lots of cupcakes…

and dress like complete fools…

Yep…that would be me rockin’ sexy green suspenders.

We all looked quite ridiculous actually.  We ditched the veil and forced shelley to wear a beer hat.  ( I’m really giving it to her in this one)

And because I tend to get a little excited when I have suspenders on…

I had to do a few heel-clicks around Wriglyville.

What can I say…Lance is one lucky fella!!

The Tale of Mr Fuzzy

August 27, 2010

Meet Mr. Fuzzy

Now believe it or not…this little orange guy was an honored guest at our wedding.  Let me explain…

It all started When I first arrived in Vegas for my bachelorette weekend.  I hopped off the shuttle at PH excited to get my first drink and was greeted by two of my good girlfriends who were already in town!

Among the hugging, “hi”-ing, beer-handing, suitcase-carrying maddness…my friend and BM (we’ll call her Frank…for various reasons) kept speaking about someone named “Mr Fuzzy”.  Then she continued to flash this crazy plastic packaged thing in front of me that could only be described as a young child’s toy.

While I attempted to check-in and speak with the nice man behind the desk…Frank kept going on and on about this weird fuzzy thing…that she apparently bought from some street vendor…

Now at first I thought maybe Frank had already had a few too many yard-long margaritas at La Salsa Cantina…but then I reminded myself that this is Frank we’re talking about…this sort of thing is very typical for her.

We spent the rest of the day trying to find scissors so we could see this marvel that is “Mr Fuzzy”…eventually someone lent us a pair and we were in business.  Unfortunately Frank did not realize Mr Fuzzy was attached to a string and in deed not magical on his own.  She tried and tried…but still couldn’t get Mr Fuzzy to do his tricks.

We assured Frank that if she spent enough time practicing…she could do a Big Show for us at the wedding.  For the rest of the Vegas trip I don’t think 10mins past without a mention of Mr Fuzzy…Frank even did a late night photo shoot with him.  Needless to say…without Mr Fuzzy my bachelorette weekend would not have been the same!

Fast Forward to our wedding.  Excited for the Big Show…I asked BM Frank if she had remembered to bring Mr Fuzzy.  She hadn’t!!  Luckily my sister found an off-brand Mr Fuzzy at Wal-Mart.  (Yes apparently this thing is popular enough that it also has an off-brand nemesis).  Thanks to Franks efforts….and lots of UTube Mr Fuzzy video tutorials…Mr Fuzzy was brought to life!  His crazy tricks entertained us while we got our hair done!

Unfortunately Mr Fuzzy did not make it into any of the formal portraits that day…but he did sneak into the Shoot Shack with the Vegas crew…

See that little orange thing toward the bottom left of the picture?!  Yep..thats him.

Frank busted out some mad tricks with Mr Fuzzy for the shoot shack… Can you spot the fuzzy man??  flying through the air!

Later Frank did a little photo-shoot with the little fur ball…

So there ya go.

Mr Fuzzy…a VIP guest indeed.

Oh Vegas

April 20, 2010

Well the weekend came and went in a blink of an eye.  Non-stop laughing and constant fun is pretty much the best way to sum up the trip…and because I’m still a little exhausted and sad that it is all over…I will just leave you with one pic for now.  A group shot of me and my ladies before dinner at Lavo!

…I’m the one wearing white in the middle…in case you couldn’t tell :)

and they’re off!

April 14, 2010

I dropped off the final bunch of our wedding invites today at the post office!!  What an amazing feeling it is to have these DONE!  Needless to say I could not have finished this task without the help from my amazing personal attendants A & C!

Our UT friends have already gotten theirs in the mail…and I expect everyone else will be receiving theirs shortly!

So I can’t reveal them completely yet…but because I’m nice I’ll give ya a little peek.

I’ll show ya the whole sha-bang once I get back from my little trip to…

VEGAS!  I hop on a plane tomorrow to meet up with 8 of my favorite ladies for a weekend of fun craziness!!  I might try and squeeze in one more post before then…depending on how the packing goes tonight!

well hello

January 21, 2010

My name is Steph…I run this here blog…and every once in a while I attempt to actually post something.  So here we go for another exciting installment of random ramblings by me.

First…an update on the 100 pushups challenge.  I am not going to lie…it is hard.  Actually I think the first week was extra hard for me b/c I failed to completely read the directions about how much time to rest between sets.  yep by the third day I was supposed to wait 2 mins between sets…I only waited 1…and my arms were not happy with me.  But alas I made it and I am now trudging through my 3rd week (week 5 of the program).   So far so good!  If I make it through this week I will move onto the 6th and final week of this thing…and become superwoman.

ok so maybe my arms look nothing like Ali Vincent’s…but at least I feel stronger.  Oh and I feel pretty bad ass at the gym… that is until I jump on the treadmill and blow my nose into my shirt.  I can’t help it…it’s like someone turns the faucet on my nose as soon as I start running!  Yes in case you were wondering I STILL RUN…just not doing any race training at the moment.  The ‘Dreadmill’ and I aren’t exactly BFFs so I try not to talk about it much.

Let’s see what else….oh yes….the wedding.  Stuff is happening folks.  This wedding is creeping up fast…and I feel like I’ve got a mountain of stuff to get accomplished!  Where did the time go?!  I noticed today that people are booking their rooms!  Nuts right?!  I mean in a good way….that means people are actually planning on coming.  Although I’m suddenly panicking that I didn’t block enough rooms.

In a little less than a month I head back to Nebraska to do a plethora of wedding related things.  The biggest being my shower!  I’m really excited for it and can’t wait to see everyone!  I’m also meeting with our florist on Valentine’s day…how appropriate right?  So I need to get to work digging through all my saved images and put together some type of collage of inspiration pics.  I’m also planning to meet with our pastor and go over some ceremony stuff…which I have yet to figure out.  See what I mean…a MOUNTAIN of things to do!

Oh and wanna know what else I’ve been working on putting together this past week along with 10 of my girlfriends??  Why a bachelorette trip to VEGAS of course!

it is going to be pretty awesome…and the perfect last hur-rah with some of my favorite girls before married life (which will be equally as awesome!).

So yeah…that about gets you up to speed.  As you can see I am a busy bee…but I will try my best to post updates when I can!!
